OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Board of Health on Wednesday confirmed Douglas County’s new health director.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will still vote on the confirmation in the coming weeks.

Dr. Lindsay Huse was formally approved for the position during a special morning meeting at the health department. The meeting was also available via Zoom.

She’s slated to begin her new role in Omaha the first week of July.

Dr. Huse met with the board, health department staff, and current Douglas County Health Director Dr. Adi Pour during her final round of interviews last week. Dr. Pour’s final day with the health department is June 30.

“I just want to thank the board for putting their trust in this , the goal was to keep this as up to speed as possible,” said board member Chris Rodgers during the meeting. “I think there’s a little bit of divine intervention because timewise, I was always worried how this was going to cross with Doctor Pour.”

The next Board of Health meeting is set for 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 16.
