Nebraska State Patrol investigates death during warrant call in rural Cass County
CASS COUNTY, Neb. (WOWT) - Nebraska State Patrol troopers are investigating an incident that resulted in the death of one person while deputies were attempting to serve multiple warrants in rural Cass County.
“Preliminary investigation has determined that no deputies discharged a weapon at any point during the incident,” the NSP news release states.
The investigation was requested by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office after the incident that occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Monday around 20 miles southwest of Plattsmouth, the report states.
Cass County deputies were trying to serve multiple warrants at a residence, and while attempting to make contact, they heard a shot from inside the home, the NSP report states.
Deputies went in and found a woman who had apparently been shot, the report states. They attempted life-saving measures, but she died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of her next of kin.
Two people were in the home at the time of the incident, according to the NSP release.
No further information was available Tuesday, but the investigation, which will be conducted as an in-custody death, is still active, the NSP release states.
