David’s Evening Forecast - More heat and humidity through the week
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Summer weather really settling in for the long haul across the region this week. Plenty of sun and humidity around the metro this afternoon, with temperatures warming into the low 90s. Thankfully the humidity hasn’t been terribly high, which is keeping our heat index in check for now. Skies will remain mostly sunny into the evening with temperatures around 90. Overnight, we’ll cool a bit, with lows dipping to near 70 degrees.
More sunshine, heat, and humidity is expected for Tuesday, After a start near 70, we’ll see temperatures warm into the low 90s once again. Highs should top out around 92 or 93 in the metro. With the humidity, the heat index could climb as high as 95 degrees. Temperatures will creep a little higher on Wednesday, with Thursday likely coming in as the hottest day of the week. High temperatures on Thursday should top out around 95 in the metro, with the heat index potentially pushing close to 100 degrees in a few spots.
Our lone rain chance of the week comes in on Friday morning, with a few scattered storms possible. At the moment, it does not appear that rain will be widespread, so not everyone will see a storm. After that, more dry and hot weather is likely through the weekend and into next week. That will mean we continue to fall behind on rainfall, with the potential for drought conditions to begin to develop.
