OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - An inmate at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln was reported missing Thursday night.

Staffers told police that Ronald Sowards’ electronic monitoring device indicated no movement for several hours Thursday, according to a news release. Law enforcement searched for Sowards but didn’t find him. Later, he contacted the center, saying he would return. As of Friday morning, he had not.

He was sentenced in August 2018 to serve an 8- to 12-year sentence for burglary and possession/receiving a stolen firearm in Saunders County and burglary in Lancaster County.

Sowards, 38, is 5 foot 9 inches tall, weighs 215 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information of his whereabouts is asked to contact local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
