Monday Aug. 3 COVID-19 update: 120 new cases in Douglas County
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported today by health officials across Nebraska & Iowa.
These are Monday’s numbers according to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services compared to Sunday:
Total cases: 26,956, an increase of 254.
Total deaths: 328, an increase of six.
Total hospitalizations: 152 compared to the record of 232 set May 27.
Hospital bed availability: 41 percent.
ICU bed availability: 43 percent.
Ventilator availability: 80 percent.
These are Monday’s numbers according to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services compared to Sunday:
Total cases: 45,847, an increase of 355.
Total deaths: 884, an increase of eight.
Hospitalizations: 241, an increase from 231 on Sunday.
Patients in the ICU: 78, an increase of three from Sunday.
120 new cases in Douglas County
The Douglas County Health Department has reported 120 new COVID-19 cases. This brings the total to 10,593 since the outbreak began in March.
The total number of lives lost remains at 134.
DCHD has confirmed 6,961 recoveries.
4 new cases in Mills County
Mills County Public Health reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the community’s total to 79 cases.
One of the new cases is between the ages of 18 to 40 years old while the other three are between the ages of 41 to 60.
One individual contracted the virus through close contact while the others contracted it through community spread.
