Friday July 10 COVID-19 update: 102 new cases, 1 death in Douglas County
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 stats reported today by health officials across Nebraska & Iowa.
As of 6 p.m. Friday, here are the latest case numbers for Nebraska and Iowa according to the states’ respective coronavirus dashboard websites:
20,777 total cases, an increase of 154 from Thursday.
286 total deaths, an increase of two from Thursday.
95 total hospitalizations. The high of 232 hospitalizations was set May 27.
39 percent of hospital bed availability.
46 percent of ICU bed availability.
79 percent of ventilator availability.
7,964 cases in Douglas County up 102 since Thursday.
103 deaths in Douglas County deaths, an increase of one since Thursday.
34,053 total cases in Iowa, an increase of 807 since Thursday.
743 deaths in Iowa, an increase of three since Thursday.
169 total hospitalizations in Iowa.
54 patients in Iowa ICUs.
19 new hospital admissions.
25,914 of Iowans recovered.
Douglas County Corrections
Three employees with Douglas County Department of Corrections have tested positive for COVID-19 over recent weeks, the DCDC reported Friday.
The three cases appear to be community-acquired and not related to previous cases at Corrections.
A total of seven employees -- six correctional officers and one support staff member -- have tested positive in DCDC since the pandemic began.
Five of the employees have fully recovered and returned to work. Two are isolating at home.
Seven prisoners have tested positive at corrections but were determined to have acquired the coronavirus prior to being incarcerated.
Nebraska Department of Correctional Services
A staff member with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services has tested positive for COVID-19, the department reported Friday.
It is the 23rd person with NDCS to be confirmed with the coronavirus. They are isolating at home.
Mills County confirms additional case
Mills County has reported an additional case of COVID-19.
The new case is a child under 18-years-old. Mills County has a total of 47 cases.
Three Rivers Public Health releases case totals
The Three Rivers Public Health Department has confirmed a total of 855 cases in their jurisdiction.
There are 710 reported cases in Dodge County, 87 cases in Saunders County, and 58 cases in Washington County.
Douglas County reports 102 new cases, 1 death
The Douglas County Health Department has reported 102 new cases in the county and one additional death — a woman in her 60s. Douglas County now has 7,775 cases.
