Nancy Wallace of Omaha has a pretty scary family history. Her dad had bypass surgery and a pacemaker in his 60s, her mom had a heart attack at 67, and a heart attack killed her brother when he was just 56. Is it any wonder she's taking Heart Month seriously?

Wallace decided to arm herself with information through Women's Heart Check Plus at Alegent Health. For $70, women receive a slew of tests and a follow up consultation with a nurse to discuss nutrition, risk for heart disease, and preventative measures.

Alegent Health Cardiologist Doctor Shirley Huerter says every woman over 40 could benefit. Heart Disease is the number-one killer of both men and women. While most of us no longer think of this as a "man's problem" we as women still have work to do to understand the symptoms and our risk.
