The mission of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is stewardship of the state's fish, wildlife, park, and outdoor recreation resources in the best long-term interests of the people and those resources.

To accomplish that purpose, the Commission plans and implements its policies and programs efficiently and objectively; maintains a rich and diverse environment in Nebraska's lands and waters; provides outdoor recreation opportunities; manages wildlife resources for the maximum benefit of the people; and attempts to help Nebraskans appreciate their role in the natural world.

Outdoor Venture Center at UNOmaha.

UNOmaha’s Outdoor Venture Center offers a variety of classes, workshops and trips each semester. Classes are open to UNO students, as well as to the general public for a slightly higher fee. Spring semester classes, workshops, and trips include: Backpacking & orienteering, CPR for professional rescuers, adult CPR, wilderness first aid, use of maps and compass, cross-country skiing, kayaking, rock climbing, canoeing, and more. The OVC also offers a rental service for various outdoor activities. Available equipment includes: canoes, tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, coolers, lanterns, volleyball sets, softball sets, Nordic skis and much more. For more information, email or call 554-2258/2539.
