Meteorologist Greg Armbrecht joined the WOWT Weather Authority Team in October of 2012. Prior to arriving in Omaha, Greg worked at WITN in Greenville, North Carolina beginning in 2008.
Before working in North Carolina he worked at WHSV in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Greg has always had a natural love for weather and began pursuing his career in high school. He was awarded “most likely to be a weatherman” in his 10th grade class.
While studying meteorology at Pennsylvania State University he was active with the Campus Weather Service. In 2006 he interned at NBC10 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and in 2007 he interned in Orlando, Florida at WESH.
Greg was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where his love for weather was realized at a young age. Tracking snowstorms and severe thunderstorms was always a hobby and it was a lifelong dream to be a broadcast meteorologist.
Some of his best weather memories were the blizzard of 1996 which impacted many parts of the northeast and tracking many tropical systems while in North Carolina.
When Greg is not tracking storms and forecasting the weather he enjoys spending time outdoors. He enjoys hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, and taking walks with family or friends. On Sundays you will likely find him cheering on the Dallas Cowboys while eating his favorite, pizza and wings.
Greg and his wife, Channel 6 Reporter/Anchor Brittany Gunter, packed up their bags and moved to Omaha with their cat Pacman. They are excited for a new adventure and if you have any advice on great restaurants or activities in Omaha let them know.
