Name: Merlyn Klaus
Title: Sports Producer

Merlyn was born in North Dakota, but grew up in Chicago. A Graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, he began his broadcast career at WLS-TV in 1977. He then moved to KDUH in Hay Springs, Nebraska, where he worked in news, weather, and sports. From 1980 to 1984, Merlyn was Sports Director at NTV, in Kearney. He has also produced The Tom Osborne Show, and The Danny Nee Show.

As the sports department's "utility player," Merlyn has been producing, reporting and anchoring Channel 6 Sports since 1984. He has won numerous awards, including Nebraska Associated Press Broadcasters, and both UPI and AP awards for "Best Sports Story." Also the AP award "Best Sports Special" for producing WOWT's Eric Crouch Heisman Trophy special.

Merlyn is a diehard fan of Chicago sports teams...the Cubs, Bears and Bulls. His other interests include volunteer involvement in the community. He is an associate minister at Salem Baptist Church here in Omaha. And he enjoys long walks on area hiking trails with his wife Karla. They have no children, but they do have a cat named Opie.
