Joe Chiodo joined the Channel 6 news team in June 2013 as a Weekend Anchor & Producer/Reporter. He loves breaking news and storytelling, and is excited that Omaha has plenty of both. He came to WOWT from the NBC affiliate KOMU-TV in Columbia, MO. Joe held all sorts of jobs over his four years at KOMU -- starting as a Production Assistant and Web Producer and working his way up to Anchor/Reporter.
As you may have guessed by now, Joe graduated from the The University of Missouri School Of Journalism (Go Tigers!), but hopes you don't hold that against him too much here in Cornhusker Country...hey the rivalry's over now anyway!
Joe is originally from Pittsburgh, PA, where his family already informed him -- they'll be tuning into the live-stream often. His years so far in the midwest have convinced him it's a great place to be, and he's excited to continue his career here in Omaha!
In addition to KOMU, Joe has also worked as a Reporter for the St. Louis PBS Station (KETC), a Capitol Bureau Reporter for KMOX and Missouri Digital News, a Broadcast Assistant at KMOV News 4, and an Anchor/Writer for Newsy.com. Last year Joe was honored with a Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award for his Breaking News Reporting.
When not behind the desk or in the field, Joe enjoys spending time on the golf course and driving range, hanging with with friends and family, and lately exploring all Omaha has to offer.
Connect with Joe on Twitter and Facebook to shoot him a story idea or say hey.
