Erin Murray joined WOWT as a reporter in April 2013. She blew in on a warm front from deep South Texas, where she worked as a reporter for two and a half years with KVEO.
Erin is not afraid to be in the action. While living down on the border, Erin covered stories affecting both the U.S. and Mexico. Many of her stories dealt with dangerous topics and dangerous people like, drug runners, human smugglers, and more. During this time, Erin's stories were regularly featured on NBC Latino.
Erin loves to get creative with her stories and is always looking for an interesting angle. Don't be surprised if you see her jumping into the action to show the viewer just exactly what she is talking about.
Erin graduated with honors from West Virginia University with a Television Journalism degree. While she was a Mountaineer, she was the anchor and economic reporter for the award winning broadcast WVU News. During her senior year she landed a weekend reporting job with WDTV, where she covered the rural stories of West Virginia. Erin even worked in radio for four years as a reporter for WWVU-FM/U-92.
But Erin didn't just gain her experience in the US. In the summer of 2008, she interned with NBC Worldwide in London, England.
Erin was born in Warrenton, Virginia, but lived for several years in Frankfurt, Germany.
When Erin isn’t reporting, she enjoys playing volleyball, riding horses and just staying active. She also loves her family, friends and dog, Layla.
