Brittany Gunter joined WOWT as a reporter in October of 2012. She comes to Omaha from Greenville, North Carolina where she worked as an anchor and reporter at WITN.
From hurricanes and tornadoes to crime investigations and features, Brittany pretty much covered it all while in Eastern Carolina. One of her most memorable stories was when she reported live for several days from the beach as Hurricane Irene barreled towards the coast and made landfall in North Carolina.
Along with her passion for reporting live from the scene, Brittany also loves being a voice for people. She won an AP consumer award for her story on a high school student who was being bullied on MySpace.
Brittany has always considered herself a storyteller at heart. Even at a young age her parents have videos of her “reporting” the day’s news from her living room.
She was able to take that dream and refine her skills at Boston University where she studied broadcast journalism. During her time in Boston she interned at WHDH and WBZ-TV.
Brittany was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but moved around to several states on the east coast while growing up. When the opportunity arose for Brittany to move to the Midwest and work at WOWT she says she just had to take it and explore a new part of the country.
Brittany and her husband, WOWT Meteorologist Greg Armbrecht, packed up their bags and moved to Omaha with their cat Pacman. They are excited for a new adventure.
Brittany loves meeting new people. If you have a story idea or just want to say hello, you can email her at email@example.com.
