Manny Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in his debut while two Express pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout to beat the Storm Chasers 4-0 Sunday night in Round Rock, Texas.

The 41-year-old slugger hit cleanup as designated hitter for the Triple-A team three days after joining the Texas Rangers on a minor league contract.

The 12-time All-Star said he's happy to have "a chance to play the game I love." Ramirez hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011 with Tampa Bay. A comeback attempt with Oakland last year failed and he recently finished a three-month stint in Taiwan.

Ramirez singled off Yordano Ventura (2-3) in his first at-bat on a line drive to right leading off the second.

Round Rock took a 2-0 lead in the third. Greg Miclat singled with runners on the corners to score Mike Olt. Yangervis Solarte grounded into a force out at second, but Leury Garcia scored all the way from second on a throwing error by shortstop Chris Getz.

Solarte doubled home a run in the fifth to make it 3-0. In the eighth, Ramirez drew a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Jared Hoying, who scored on Joey Butler's double.

Jake Brigham (3-1) gave up four hits while striking out four and walking two in seven innings. Joseph Ortiz got his first save of the season pitching two scoreless innings with one strikeout.
