Storm Chasers, Sounds Split

Irving Falu and Clint Robinson homered while three Omaha pitchers held the Sounds scoreless on three hits in an 8-0 rout in game one of a doubleheader Saturday evening in Nashville. The Sounds came back to win the nightcap 10-3.

Falu’s three-run shot in the fourth of the opener gave the Storm Chasers a 3-0 lead.

Robinson knocked a two-run homer in a five-run seventh. Tony Abreu and David Lough later singled and Anthony Seratelli reached on an error by second baseman Eric Farris to load the bases. Derrick Robinson then singled home Abreu. Johnnie Lowe replaced Brian Baker on the mound, but walked Falu to force in Lough and walked Johnny Giavotella to score Seratelli.

Meanwhile, Omaha starter Everett Teaford (4-0) went five innings, giving up three Nashville singles. Francisley Bueno and Brandon Sisk pitched a perfect sixth and seventh. After Dayton Buller singled to lead off the third, the next 15 Nashville hitters were retired.

Victor Garate (2-4) took the loss.

In game two, the Sounds scored seven times in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. Jeremy Jeffress threw a wild pitch with the bases loaded to score one. Jason Jaramillo walked to again load the bases for Hainley Statia, who singled home another run. Logan Schafer’s sacrifice fly to left plated a third run. Jeff Bianchi singled to load ‘em up and Travis Ishikawa cleared the bases with a double. Corey Patterson doubled in Ishikawa.

Wil Myers hit his 11th home run of the season for Omaha.
