For the second night in a row Omaha scored in every inning but two en route to a 12-5 thrashing of Round Rock Saturday at Werner Park.
The Express took a 2-0 lead in the first. Matt Kata reached on a fielding error by third baseman Irving Falu and scored on Leonys Martin’s triple. Martin came home on Ryan Spilborghs’ sacrifice fly to right.
The Storm Chasers got one back in the bottom of the first. Derrick Robinson and Chris Getz singled with Robinson taking third. He would score when Wil Myers hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Omaha tied it in the second on Anthony Seratelli’s 11th home run of the season.
With one out in the third, Derrick Robinson walked, Getz singled and Myers singled to load the bases. Salvador Perez hit a grounder back to pitcher Neil Ramirez (6-6) who threw home to force out Robinson. Tony Abreu singled to left, bringing in Getz and Myers to put Omaha up 4-2.
With one out in the fourth, Falu walked and stole second. Cody Clark walked and Derrick Robinson doubled, scoring Falu. Getz then doubled to right, plating both Clark and Robinson and the Storm Chasers led 7-2. Falu’s two-run homer in the fifth made it 9-2.
Round Rock scored one run in the seventh. Luis Martinez singled, went to third on Julio Borbon’s single and came home on a Kata ground out. The Express added two more in the eighth. Yangervis Solarte grounded out to first with the bases loaded to score Spilborghs. Greg Miclat's ground out scored Joey Butler and Round Rock trailed 9-5.
Omaha came right back with three runs in the home half of the eighth on a Kurt Mertins’ two-run single. Myers would drive him in with an RBI single to make it 12-5.
