Storm Chasers Top Nashville 5-3

The Storm Chasers returned home and beat Nashville 5-3 Saturday night at Werner Park.

Omaha broke the ice in the fourth inning. Clint Robinson led off with a double and David Lough reached safely on a bunt. Adam Moore singled home Robinson. Rey Navarro sacrificed both runners to second and third and Lough would score on Derrick Robinson’s ground out to short.

Humberto Quintero followed back-to-back singles by Jeff Bianchi and Caleb Gindl with a double to put the Sounds on the board in the fifth.

The Storm Chasers scored three times in the seventh. Irving Falu and Mitch Maier singled and Anthony Seratelli reached safely on a bunt that scored Falu from second on first baseman Sean Halton’s throwing error. Wil Myers singled home Maier. Seratelli, who went 4-for-4 on the night, scored when Clint Robinson grounded into a double play to make it 5-1.

Nashville got two back in the eighth. Logan Schafer walked to knock starter Ryan Verdugo (11-3) out of the game. Vin Mazzaro replaced him and surrendered a double to Eric Farris that sent Schafer to third. Khris Davis grounded out allowing Schafer to score. Jordan Brown singled off the glove of Falu at shortstop to plate Farris.

Tyler Thornburg (1-1) took the loss for the Sounds.
