The Storm Chasers scored five times in the first inning, then held on for a 6-5 win before 3,985 fans at Werner Park for the home opener Friday night.

Hunter Morris had put the Sounds ahead with a first-inning home run, but Omaha immediately responded.

David Lough walked and Christian Colon singled, taking second on the throw to third. Johnny Giavotella then doubled in both runners. With Xavier Nady batting, a wild pitch by Johnny Hellweg (1-1) sent Giavotella to third. After Nady struck out swinging, Max Ramirez walked, Adam Moore reached on a fielder's choice that plated Giavotella and left Moore and Ramirez safe. A passed ball by catcher Dayton Buller moved the runners to second and third. Irving Falu walked, but a wild pitch by Hellweg allowed Ramirez to score. Willy Taveras grounded into a force out while Moore scored.

After both teams scored in the third to make it a 6-2 game, Morris homered again and Stephen Parker also went deep in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-4. Cole Garner added a ninth-inning homer for Nashville.

Nate Adcock (1-0) went five innings for the win, giving up two runs on three hits, striking out seven while walking one.
