Iowa scored four times once Friday night's suspended game was resumed on Saturday to defeat the Storm Chasers 9-5 in Des Moines. The Cubs won the regularly scheduled game 8-7.

Omaha had taken a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the first game. Irving Falu walked, Christian Colon doubled and Xavier Nady walked to load the bases. Max Ramirez singled in one run before Brett Hayes doubled home two more. Willy Taveras' sacrifice fly plated Ramirez.

The Cubs got on the board in the home first on Steve Clevenger's two-run homer and tied the game in the second. Junior Lake singled and Darnell McDonald walked. After Luis Flores moved the runners up with a ground out to pitcher Ryan Verdugo, Edwin Maysonet lifted a sac fly to score Lake and send McDonald to third. He would score on a wild pitch by Verdugo.

Nady's RBI single in the fifth put the Chasers back on top 5-4, but Iowa again tied it in the bottom of the fifth on Lake's sacrifice fly. Play was halted in the sixth due to rain and resumed Saturday afternoon.

The Cubs broke the 5-5 deadlock in the sixth. Flores walked and advanced to third on Maysonet's double. After Brent Lillibridge flied out to right, Brett Jackson singled home Flores. Brian Bogusevic pinch-hit for Clevenger and was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Dave Sappelt's sacrifice fly brought in Maysonet and with Brad Nelson batting, a wild pitch by Michael Mariot (1-3) sent Bogusevic to second. Nelson then singled in two more runs.
