The Omaha Storm Chasers will send four players to Buffalo for the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11th.
The Pacific Coast League announced Thursday that outfielder/third baseman Wil Myers, left-handed reliever Tommy Hottovy, first baseman Clint Robinson and left-handed starter Ryan Verdugo will be a part of the PCL’s squad that will take on the International League All-Stars.
Omaha is tied with Reno and Albuquerque with the most players from one team participating on the PCL squad with four each.
Myers, the number 19th ranked prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB.com, did not make his Triple-A debut until May 16th and earned the promotion to Omaha after hitting .343 with 13 home runs and 30 RBI in 35 games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In 40 games with the Storm Chasers, Myers has hit .309 with 12 round-trippers and 35 RBIs.
Hottovy has appeared in 20 games for Omaha with a record of 2-0 and has posted a 1.69 ERA. The left-hander has saved seven games for the Chasers and held opposing hitters to a .177 batting average.
This season will mark the second consecutive Triple-A All-Star nod that Robinson has received. The 6-foot-5, 240 pound first baseman has been a key cog in a powerful Omaha offense with his .313 average. He has hammered 10 home runs in 71 games and knocked in 44 runs.
Verdugo, one of the Storm Chasers’ most consistent starting pitchers, has racked up a record of 5-2 with a 3.65 ERA in 14 starts this season. His ERA is the lowest among left-handed starters in the PCL and he has held opposing batters to a league low .212 average.
