Chasers Rout Oswalt, Win 7-2

PAPILLION, Neb. — The Omaha Storm Chasers topped the Round Rock Express, 7-2, in front of a season-high 8,764 fans at Werner Park on Thursday night. Wil Myers went one-for-four at the plate but his lone hit was a grand slam in the third inning off of three-time All-Star, Roy Oswalt.

Jake Odorizzi (3-0) pitched one-run ball over 6.2 innings and picked up the win in relief of rehabbing Kansas City Royal Everett Teaford, who went two innings and gave up one run in his return to action. Tommy Hottovy collected the final out of the game to earn his fourth save of the season.

Round Rock’s (27-34) Luis Martinez put the visitors on the board in the first with his solo homer off of Teaford. The Storm Chasers (36-25) responded in the bottom of the third when Anthony Seratelli led-off the inning with a double. Seratelli came around to score on an RBI single by Kevin Kouzmanoff. Another rehabbing Royal, Chris Getz, singled as did Derrick Robinson, to load the bases for Myers’ slam that gave Omaha a 5-1 lead.

In the seventh, another Kouzmanoff single was followed up by an Irving Falu two-run big fly to push the Chasers’ lead to 7-1.
The Express carved out one final two-out run in the ninth, this time against Odorizzi, but any threat of a comeback by the visiting team was quickly quieted as Hottovy recorded the final out of the contest to wrap-up the 7-2 victory.

Omaha and Round Rock will do battle in game two of their four game series on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Friday’s game will feature post-game fireworks thanks to our good friends at American Family Insurance. The game against the Express can be heard locally on 1180 AM The Zone 2 – The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
