UNO's Bough to Play in World Championships

UNO women's basketball senior guard Lanese Bough will represent her homeland, the US Virgin Islands, this week at the FIBA Caribbean Basketball Championships in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

Bough and the US Virgin Islands begin the preliminary round at the tournament on Tuesday, July 8 against Bahamas at 1:15 p.m. (Central). The Virgin Islands are paired with Barbados, Dominican Republic and Bahamas in Group A. Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines make up Group B.

Virgin Islands will play Barbados on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. (Central) and Dominican Republic on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. (Central) before the playoff round begins on Friday and ends Saturday.

A native of Christiansted, Bough averaged 5.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists with a Summit League-best 2.4 steals per game in her first year at UNO in 2013-14. The junior college transfer was the second-best free throw shooter for the Mavericks, hitting 35-of-40 (87.5 percent).
