UNO scored five runs in the eighth to beat host Oakland (Mich.) 7-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Grizzlies (15-32, 10-12 Summit League) took a 1-0 lead in the third and the Mavericks (22-21, 15-5 Summit League) tied it in the fifth. Oakland would add another run in the sixth for a 2-1 lead.
Alex Mortensen led off the eighth with a single and Cory Buckley reached on an error to put runners on the corners. Ryan Keele singled to score Mortensen and tie the game at 2-2. Clayton Taylor then reached on a fielder's choice and Keele and Buckley advanced to second and third respectively on a muffed throw. A sacrifice fly to right from Tyler Splichal allowed Buckley to come across for a 3-2 Omaha lead. Alex Schultz hit a double plating Taylor and Keele. An infield single by Caleb Palensky put runners at first and third and Cole Gruber singled in Schultz to make it 6-2.
Keele homered in the ninth, his fifth of the season.
Zach Williamsen (3-1) went 7.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. OU's Jake Paulson (2-8) also tossed 7.1 innings, surrendering six runs (two earned) off eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
