The Mavericks and Golden Grizzlies split a doubleheader Friday afternoon in Rochester, Michigan. UNO scored six times in the 12th of game one for an 8-2 win before Oakland took game two 3-0.
Oakland led 2-0 heading into the seventh inning of the opener when the Mavs tied it on Caleb Palensky's two-run double.
Connor Messinger led off the 12th by reaching on an error by the second baseman followed by a single from Alex Schultz and a bunt single by Palensky. Cole Gruber then singled up the middle to plate Schultz and Messinger making it 4-2. Brett Bass singled in Palensky, and Gruber scored on a sacrifice bunt from Alex Mortensen. Ryan Keele then knocked a two-run homer over the right field wall.
In game two, Jason Hager (3-6) held Omaha (21-21, 14-5 Summit League) to four hits with five strikeouts over 7.0 scoreless innings. Oakland (15-31, 10-11 Summit League) generated all the scoring it needed in the sixth with three runs on four hits and two UNO errors. Robby Enslen scored on Nolan Jacoby's single and Jacoby came in with Mike Carson's double. Spencer Marentette singled to plate Carson.
