The Mavericks improved to 9-0 in Summit League play, defeating North Dakota State 4-2 Friday afternoon at the Ballpark at Boys Town.
North Dakota State (15-16, 3-4 Summit League) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Tim Colwell sent the second pitch of the game deep to right for his first home run of the season.
Omaha answered in the bottom of the first, stringing together four hits for a pair of runs. Brett Bass led off with a single and Cory Buckley, Ryan Keele and Tyler Splichal did likewise. Splichal's hit scored Bass and Buckley scored the go-ahead run on an RBI ground out by Cole Gruber.
Up 3-2, the Mavericks (15-16) added an insurance run in the eighth as Keele doubled and scored on Splichal's double.
Freshman Tyler Fox (4-1) went 6.1 innings allowing two runs on seven hits and fanning five with two walks. The loss went to John Straka (5-2), who went 7.0 innings and surrendered three runs on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
