Mavericks Announce Roster Changes

Omaha hockey head coach Dean Blais announced the signing of another student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Forward Grant Gallo will join the team for the 2014-15 season.

Gallo is a native of San Diego, Calif. He played two seasons for the Northern Cyclones of the Eastern Hockey League where he was twice an all-league selection and member of the EHL All-Star Team. In 2013-14, the 6-4, 215-pound blue liner led all EHL defensemen and finished second in team scoring with 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in 44 games and was named the EHL Defenseman of the Year. He also had 122 penalty minutes.

Gallo served as team captain, helping to lead the Cyclones to the 2014 EHL Championship. In 85 career games, he had 17 goals and 43 assists for 60 points and 208 penalty minutes.

In addition, Blais announced that previously signed freshman defenseman Shane Poulsen has chosen not to attend UNO.
