Creighton took a giant step towards its first MVC title with a 3-2 (25-18, 25-23, 11-25, 17-25, 15-8) victory over three-time defending league champion Northern Iowa Saturday night in Cedar Falls.
The win extended Creighton's (22-3, 13-1 MVC) record win streak to 10 straight while also establishing a school-record for wins in a season with 22. UNI fell to 21-8 (12-3 MVC) after dropping its first home match in MVC play since 2008.
Leah McNary finished with 19 kills while Melanie Jereb had 15 kills and 15 digs. Megan Bober had her second consecutive triple-double, finishing with 47 assists, 14 digs and 10 kills. Kelli Browning finished with nine kills and a match-best seven blocks.
Defensively, senior Brooke Boggs had a career-high 24 digs while Kate Elman tallied 21 digs. Creighton finished with 63 kills, three aces, 91 digs and 10 blocks on .223 hitting.
Krista DeGeest paced the Panthers with 19 kills on .375 hitting while Megan Lehman had 14 kills. Shelby Kintzel had 13 kills while Macy Ubben finished with 11 kills and 12 digs.
Molly Turk had 49 assists and 10 digs. Candice Burke led all players with 26 digs. UNI finished with 65 kills, three aces, 96 digs and eight blocks on .232 hitting.
