Los Angeles, Calif. -- Creighton basketball standout Doug McDermott was named to the prestigious Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Thursday, one of numerous accolades bestowed on the eve of his junior season.

The forward from Ames, Iowa, is the only MVC representative on the initial Wooden Award list, which is based on a preseason poll of national college basketball media members. It is comprised of 50 student-athletes who, based on last year¹s individual performance and team records, are the early frontrunners for college basketball¹s most prestigious honor. Transfers, freshmen and medical redshirts are not eligible for the Preseason list.
