Creighton star Doug McDermott was introduced to the Chicago Bulls Monday. The Bulls picked him up after Denver picked McDermott as the 11th overall pick in the NBA draft last week.
Bulls General Manager Gar Forman touted McDermott's abilities saying, "His game is so much more than just shooting. He's a versatile player, he can play inside & out. He's got a very high basketball IQ. I think he just fits the makeup and character of what we've got going, the culture created here with the Bulls."
McDermott says he is pleased to be with the team, but he has a lot of work to improve himself. I got to get better defensively, I think everyone does. This is a perfect spot to improve just because they've been so great defensively. I have a lot to learn," he told reporters.
Attending Monday's news conference was McDermott's proud father and former coach. Greg McDermott said, "Obviously we're thrilled to sit in this building and see the championship and really get a feel for the tradition. To be a part of it is a dream come true for him and growing up in eastern Iowa, the Bulls were a team I always followed as a child. So, to have Doug part of this organization is very special."
