It is impossible to see what Josh Jones is going through by just looking at him.
"My message is of motivation Just be optimistic about adversity through life. Be inspired to keep going regardless of what is happening, Jones said."
The former Creighton star found out last month that he needs a second open heart surgery to replace a weak valve.
"The first thing that came to my mind was the setback, "Jones said. "But within me as an individual I think that I am going to be okay regardless. That does not mean the reality is not scary for me."
His heart valve is not strong enough to handle the life of a D-1 athlete. However, there is some silver lining with the news. Jones found out his heart condition is not genetic.
"I was in a sense relieved because I do not have to live my life in moderation. I can live life to the fullest after my operation is complete, Jones said."
Since announcing his second surgery, the outpouring of support from the community is overwhelming. It is what helps Jones keep the big smile on his face.
"I feel like when I go through adverse situations like this, the community in the state is huge for the fact that they give me confidence and courage to get through what I am going through, Jones said."
