Creighton was swept for the first time this season as Indiana State took game three of the series 5-3 Sunday afternoon in Terre Haute.
Trailing 1-0 entering the top of the fifth, the Bluejays took their first lead of the weekend with three runs. Ryan Fitzgerald singled and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice by Kevin Lamb. Brad McKewon followed with a double to tie the game. McKewon went to third on a single by Federico Castagnini. A sacrifice fly from Jake Peter made it 2-1 and Mike Gerber's triple down the right field line made it 3-1.
The Sycamores got the three runs back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring on a throwing error and a two-run homer by Mike Fitzgerald. They added an insurance run in the seventh for a 5-3 lead.
Indiana State's bullpen held the Jays scoreless over the final four frames as Josh Negele earned the win (2-0), holding Creighton scoreless in one inning of relief. A.J. McElderry came on in the ninth to record the final out for his first save of the season.
Bryan Sova took the loss (1-2), surrendering two runs on two hits in 0.2 innings.
