Creighton University forward Ethan Wragge will participate in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, Intersport announced today. The 26th annual event, which will airs live on ESPN next Thursday night from Moody Coliseum on the SMU campus, features 24 of college basketball’s top dunkers and long-range shooters.
Individual elements of the contest include: Quicken Loans Men’s 3-Point Championship, Buick Women’s 3-Point Championship, Echo Battle of the Champions and Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship.
Wragge, who will compete in the Quicken Loans Men’s 3-Point Championship, was one of the most prolific three-point shooters in Creighton history and this season converted 47 percent (110-for-234) of his attempts from beyond the arc to help the Bluejays to a 27-8 record. A career 43.9 percent (334-for-761) shooter from long range, the 6-foot-7 Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST selection ranks fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (.470) through games of March 23. Wragge occupies second place on Creighton’s all-time three-point field goals made list with 334, second only to Kyle Korver (371).
Wragge will be the third Creighton player in the last 12 years to take part in the men's three-point contest. Kyle Korver finished second in the 2003 competition to Butler guard Darnell Archey, while Booker Woodfox did not advance to the semifinals in the 2009 competition won by Miami's Jack McClinton. Notably, Creighton Hall of Famer Kathy Halligan won the 1992 women's three-point contest.
