Ty Blach tossed a complete game, giving up one run on five hits, striking out five and walking one in a 4-1 Creighton win over Dallas Baptist Friday night at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
Blach's second complete game of the season improved Creighton to 21-23 overall while handing the Patriots their 16th loss of the year (34-16).
Creighton took advantage of a pair of Tayler Massey (7-4) walks in the fourth. Nick Judkins was issued a four-pitch walk and advanced to second on an Anthony Bemboom sacrifice bunt. Another four-pitch walk to Alex Staehely put a pair of runners on for Mike Gerber, who drove a single to right field to score Judkins.
The Bluejays knocked out Massey in the sixth. Bemboom led off the inning reaching safely on an error by the first baseman and Staehely reached on a sacrifice bunt as the Patriots attempted to get Bemboom out at second. An errant throw allowed both runners to stand on the bases safely. Scott Thornburg then hit his first triple of the season to make it a 4-0 game.
Blach (5-5) held the Patriots scoreless until the ninth inning. With two outs and a runner on second, Blach induced a fly that hit off Jake Peter's glove, allowing the runner to score.
