The Creighton women's basketball team outscored Northern Iowa 30-19 in the second half to extend its three-point halftime lead and pull away from the Panthers for a 54-40 win Friday night at D.J. Sokol Arena.
CU led 24-21 at the break and opened the second half on a 11-2 run, sparked by a three-pointer from Carli Tritz, giving the Bluejays a 35-25 lead with 16:17 left in the game. Jordan Garrison later hit a three-pointer to make it 40-29 with 13:10 remaining.
Creighton took its largest lead of the night, 51-37, with 3:28 left in the game off a 6-0 run with Tritz scoring four of those points.
Marissa Janning scored 12 and Sarah Nelson had 11 to lead the Jays. Jacqui Kalin and Hannah Schonhardt each finished with nine points to top the Panthers.
The victory lifted the Bluejays to 14-4 and 6-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Northern Iowa fell to 8-10 and 3-3 in MVC play.
