Four Bluejays finished in double figures, led by 34 from sophomore Marissa Janning, as Creighton downed host Providence 97-65 Saturday afternoon.

The Bluejays (10-7, 4-1 Big East) committed to pounding the ball inside early as Sarah Nelson and Alyssa Kamphaus scored Creighton's first three baskets. Providence (5-10, 0-4 Big East) answered each time, tying the game at 6-6 for the third time.

CU responded by getting Janning an open look from outside the arc. She delivered and a foul was called away from the ball on Providence. Given another possession, Nelson took advantage with her third bucket to give the Bluejays an 11-6 edge with 16:04 remaining in the half.

Providence hit consecutive treys to take a 12-11 lead, the only lead the Friars held. Janning answered with a three-ball of her own to put Creighton back in front at 14-12.

The game remained close late into the opening period. Leading 23-22, Creighton used an 18-5 burst to break the game open. The Jays led 51-34 at halftime.

McKenzie Fujan finished with 18 points and Nelson and Kamphaus each scored 11. Alexis Harris led the Friars with 17.
