Creighton Downs DePaul 3-1

Creighton reached the midway point of conference play Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win (25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22) at DePaul.

The Bluejays are now 15-5 and 6-2 in the Big East while DePaul dropped to 15-6 and 1-6.

Led by Michelle Sicner's career-high 52 assists, Creighton hit .372 and pounded 67 wins in the four-set win. Leah McNary had 16 kills and hit .448 to overshadow Kelli Browning's 14 kills, six blocks and two aces on .409 hitting. Also terminating double-digit kills were Jess Bird (13 kills, 13 digs) and Lauren Smith (11 kills). Kate Elman paced CU's defense with 16 kills.

Abbie Fleener led all players with 20 kills and .514 hitting while Vesela Zapryanova had 17 kills. Colleen Smith dished 55 assists for the Blue Demons and Allyson Rooks had a match-best 22 digs.

DePaul owned 59 kills, three aces, 47 digs and 11.5 blocks on .297 hitting. The .297 hitting was the second-most ever by an opponent in a Creighton win, as Evansville hit .310 on November 2, 1996 in a 3-1 CU win.

For the day, Creighton recorded 67 kills, five aces, 52 digs and nine blocks on .372 hitting. The .372 hitting is tied for the third-best performance in a four-set match in program history and best such mark since 2001.
