Oklahoma spoiled the Creighton women's season opener with a 69-48 win Saturday afternoon in Omaha.

The Jays got off to a fast start taking an 8-2 lead. McKenzie Fujan opened the scoring as fellow junior Sarah Nelson found her on a back-cut for an easy layup. Fujan was fouled on the shot and converted the free throw to make it 3-0.

Following an Oklahoma bucket, Carli Tritz found Ally Jensen open on the wing for a three-pointer to make it 6-2. Moments later it was Jensen distributing inside to Alyssa Kamphaus for a right-handed layup to give the Bluejays the six-point edge with 16:44 remaining in the opening period.

The 12th-ranked Sooners were able to adjust their defense quickly, clogging up the passing lanes to force Creighton into more outside shots. The result was a 16-2 run for Oklahoma over the ensuing five minutes to push the Sooners out to a lead of 18-10. Oklahoma extended its lead to 14 at 30-16 and took a 36-24 edge in at the break.

Oklahoma returned to the floor in the second half on fire, hitting their first four from beyond the arc to extend its lead to 21 at 50-29 with 15 minutes remaining. The separation remained 21 until the nine-minute mark when Fujan and Jordan Garrison led CU on a 5-0 run. Garrison delivered her first trey to make it 54-36, then Fujan sank two free throws to cut the deficit to 16 at 54-38. That, however, was as close as the Jays got.

Jensen was the only Bluejay to finish in double figures, posting 13 points. Oklahoma got a game-high 19 points from Aaryn Ellenberg while Whitney Hand finished with 14 points.

The Jays finished 17-of-65 from the field (.262) and 7-of-31 (.226) from beyond the arc. Oklahoma shot .482 (27-of-56), including 7-of-14 from three-point range.
