After slugfest wins in the first two games of the series, Creighton grinded out a 3-1 victory at Dallas Baptist Sunday afternoon for a sweep of the season-opening series.

The Patriots went up 1-0 in the home first on Duncan McAlpine's RBI double.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Mark Winkelman (1-0) came in from the bullpen for CU with runners at first and second and one out. He walked the first man he faced to load the bases, but worked out of the jam by inducing a force out and retiring former Husker Boomer Collins on strikes.

Winkelman's rush of emotion carried over to the Jays' bats as Creighton (3-0) promptly grabbed the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth on RBI singles by Jake Peter and Alex Staehely.

Staehely's RBI double in the eighth scored Peter, who had doubled and advanced to third on Mike Gerber's fly out to right.

Cory Taylor (0-1) took the loss for the Patriots (0-3).
