Creighton advanced to the third round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament with a 4-2 win over Washington Sunday evening at Morrison Stadium.
The win sets up a rematch at Akron next Sunday afternoon. The Bluejays (16-3-2) and Zips (18-1-2) played to a 1-1 tie August 31st in Omaha. Washington's season ends with a 13-5-3 mark.
Brent Kallman scored his third career goal in the sixth minute to put the Bluejays ahead 1-0. Washington tied the score in the 48th minute on James Moberg's goal, the first surrendered by CU at home since September 22nd, a span of over 13 scoreless halves.
Just under seven minutes later, Creighton freshman Timo Pitter scored on a cross from Jose Ribas for his team-leading ninth goal of the season to put Creighton in front for good. Ribas added another assist on Andrew Ribeiro's goal in front of the net in the 66th minute to put Creighton up 3-1.
In the 86th minute, Pitter added an assist to his point total as Christian Blandon scored his third career goal for a 4-1 lead. Washington's Dylan Tucker-Gangnes scored in the 89th minute off of a direct kick.
