Nebraska Overcomes Errors, Three-Run Deficit For 4-3 Win

Despite making four errors and falling behind 3-0, Nebraska managed to defeat Purdue 4-3 Sunday afternoon in Tucson to match the best 10-game start in school history.

The Boilermakers scored three times in the second inning, thanks to a pair of Husker errors.

Brooke Thomason pulled NU to within one with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Alicia Armstrong then tied the game with an RBI single in the fifth before Hailey Decker brought home the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Purdue loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but right-hander Tatum Edwards (6-1) worked out of the jam. Ashley Burkhardt hit a ground ball to Dawna Tyson at first, who threw to catcher Taylor Edwards to record the second out. Andi Varsho then grounded a ball back to Tatum Edwards, who threw to Tyson for the third out.

Nebraska equaled its best start by improving to 9-1. Purdue fell to 5-5.
