NU Women Climb Three Spots to No. 15 in AP Poll

Lincoln - The Nebraska women's basketball team climbed three spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press Poll on Nov. 12, marking the school-record 16th consecutive week the Huskers have appeared in the AP rankings.

Nebraska rose from No. 18 to No. 15 on the strength of Sunday's 64-39 win over Temple at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln on Sunday. The Huskers were plus-13 on the boards and plus-12 in the turnover department on their way to a comfortable win over a Temple team that won 23 games and advanced to the WNIT Sweet 16 last year.

All-American Jordan Hooper led the Huskers with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while All-America candidate Lindsey Moore contributed 10 points and three assists. Nebraska opened the season with a 68-50 victory over a North Carolina A&T squad that returned five starters from a team that won 15 games a year ago.

The Huskers, who opened the season 2-0 for the eighth straight season, gained 78 points, moving past Texas A&M, Delaware and St. John's, which all suffered losses in the opening weekend.
Nebraska, which was one of only six top-25 teams to go 2-0 over the weekend, will face two more tough tests this week, beginning with a Friday night battle against Northern Arizona. Tip-off between the Huskers and Lumberjacks is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Devaney Center. Last season, NAU took Nebraska to double-overtime in Flagstaff before the Huskers finally prevailed, 97-88. Hooper and Moore combined for 63 points in that contest.

On Sunday, Nebraska hits the road for the first time this season to square off against 2012 Summit League champion South Dakota State in Brookings. The Jackrabbits earned a bid to the 2012 NCAA Tournament, and will be the Huskers' second 2012 postseason foe in four games to open the year.
