Huskers Split With Wisconsin

Nebraska's 16-game home winning streak came to an end in game one of Friday's doubleheader as Wisconsin topped the Huskers 3-1. NU came back to win the second game 6-4.

The first home loss of 2012 in the opener was Nebraska's fifth-straight overall.

Cassandra Darrah (22-11) earned the complete-game victory for the Badgers (34-17, 13-8 Big Ten), scattering six hits while allowing just the one run. She held Nebraska (31-22, 12-9 Big Ten) to just 2-for-11 hitting with runners on base and only 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position as the Huskers stranded seven runners.

Shannel Blackshear's bloop single with two outs in the third drove in two runs.

The Huskers loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame on a bunt single by Nikki Haget, a single from Gabby Banda and a hit batter putting Taylor Edwards on. Ashley Guile then delivered an RBI single up the middle to cut the lead to 2-1.

Karla Powell's pinch-hit home run stretched the lead to 3-1 in the seventh.

Ashley Hagemann (22-17) took the loss and suffered her fourth-straight defeat. She tossed a seven-hitter and allowed three runs, walking four and striking out four.
