A starter for the Nebraska volleyball squad is leaving the team to move closer to family and play beach volleyball. Husker coach John Cook said Wednesday that libero Lara Dykstra is leaving the team to return home to California.
Cook said in a statement that Dykstra lost her passion for indoor volleyball and wants to be able to play collegiate beach volleyball. Cook said Dykstra did a great job for Nebraska while starting every match for the last two years.
Nebraska finished the year with a 26-7 record after losing to Oregon in the Omaha NCAA Regional last Saturday.
