Wrestling has been reinstated for the 2020 Olympics, seven months after losing its spot.
It beat two other sports in a vote Sunday by the International Olympic Committee. Wrestling received 49 votes while a combined baseball-softball bid got 24 and squash 22.
The Games of the XXXII Olympiad are scheduled to be held July 24th through August 9th in Tokyo.
Officials at USA Wrestling vow to keep improving the sport. Former Iowa State wrestling great and ex-Iowa coach Dan Gable says the IOC's original recommendation turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Faced with Olympic elimination, it forced wrestling to embrace the change the IOC had long demanded.
