Wildcats Take Down Nebraska 6-1
Zach Morton went the distance, scattering six hits in a 6-1 Northwestern win over Nebraska Sunday afternoon in Evanston, Illinois.
NU (19-11, 3-3 Big Ten) starter Zach Hirsch (3-2) gave up three runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings. It was Morton's first win of the season after losing his first five decisions.
Jack Havey singled to start the second and scored on a two-out double by Colby Everett to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
Michael Pritchard worked a lead-off walk in the top of the fourth, moved to second on an infield grounder and took third on a wild pitch. He scored on a ground out by Chad Christensen.
Northwestern (10-15, 3-3 Big Ten) scored in the home half of the fourth on a two-run homer by Havey. The Wildcats continued to add runs with three in the seventh on three hits.
