The Mavericks ended the Red Desert Classic at St. George, Utah by defeating Idaho State 6-3 before losing to Utah State 6-0.
Campbell Ditto homered for the third time in four games and led the Mavs to a season-high 11 hits in the win over the previously unbeaten Bengals. Ditto was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
Dana Elsasser improved to 3-0 with her third straight complete game. Elsasser struck out four and walked two surrendering six hits. All three of Idaho State's runs came in the bottom of the sixth, ending Elsasser's streak of 19.1 scoreless innings to begin the season.
After the offensive explosion in the opener, UNO was held to two hits by Utah State's Nicole Johnson (3-1), who fanned 16 Mavericks. Hailey Froton hit two home runs to pace the Aggies.
The Mavs finished the tournament with a record of 3-2.
