Tulsa Takes Mavericks In Three

UNO out-blocked Tulsa in its final match of the Kansas Invitational on Saturday, but it was not enough to get past the Golden Hurricane as the Mavericks fell 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 23-25) in Lawrence.

Redshirt freshman Bailey Baxter tallied her second career double-double with 11 assists and 10 digs. Senior Natalie Ebke had a team-leading seven kills and nine digs while freshman Michaela Schimmer had five kills, 15 assists, five digs and five blocks. Jessy Schroedter also tallied five kills with a pair of stops at the net.

Amy Roberts' 13 digs were a team high and redshirt freshman Valerie Hecht totaled six blocks to lead UNO (3-3). As a team, the Mavs out-blocked Tulsa 10-4, marking the third time UNO has led a match in team blocks this season.

Tulsa (4-3), the defending Conference USA champion and a 2011 NCAA Tournament qualifier, was paced by Tyler Henderson's 22 kills on .514 hitting. Kellie Culbertson also finished in double figures with 10 kills and 10 digs and setter Jordan Clampitt's 36 assists guided TU to a .280 team attack percentage. Jessica Adams added 23 digs and Ashley Hooper finished with three blocks.
