Before the 2013 Triple-A National Champions Omaha Storm Chasers even take the field against the Nashville Sounds on April 3, Werner Park will be home to four exciting preseason season events on April 1 and 2, including two University of Nebraska-Omaha baseball games and the first look at the 2014 Storm Chasers squad for fans during both a private and public event.
The two days of preseason events kicks off on April 1 with the annual “Welcome The Team” Event and the first of two games featuring the 2014 University of Nebraska-Omaha baseball squad, as as the Mavs take on the Kansas State Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for all sections of Werner Park at the UNO games on April 1 and 2 will be $9.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 10 and under.
The 2014 “Welcome The Team” event is open to all Storm Chasers full and half season ticket holders, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last until 7:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Tent. This event gives these fans the chance to meet the new Storm Chasers manager Brian Poldberg, the coaches and the 2014 roster for the Chasers on a personal level, and will include appetizers and a free drink ticket. All guests in attendance will be able to attend the UNO baseball game that night free of charge.
April 2 will feature the first opportunity to see the 2014 Storm Chasers practice on the field at “Chasers Showcase” from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., which is free and open to the public. Storm Chasers players and coaches will be available to the media for interviews, while fans in attendance will have the opportunity to get autographs from select players. “Chasers Showcase” also will be the first look at many of the non-baseball activities at Werner Park, including the new attractions at the Centris Family Fun Zone, and every concession item that day will be $5.00 or under.
he final event before the Storm Chasers open up their 2014 season will be UNO taking on Creighton on April 2 at 6:30 p.m. It will be the second-ever meeting between the two schools at Werner Park, as last season the Bluejays won the matchup at Werner Park 11-4 on March 30.
