Brett Hayes hit his seventh homer of the year and three Omaha pitchers held the Cubs to one run on five hits in a 3-1 win at Des Moines Sunday afternoon.
Iowa went up 1-0 in the first on Edwin Maysonet's sixth home run. Hayes' blast tied it in the third.
Xavier Nady led off the Storm Chaser fourth with a single and Max Ramirez did likewise. Irving Falu sacrificed them over into scoring position and Anthony Seratelli walked. After Hayes struck out swinging, Quintin Berry singled home Nady and Ramirez.
