The Kansas City Royals sent struggling reliever Kelvin Herrera to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday and recalled pitcher Louis Coleman.
Herrera has allowed eight home runs in 20.1 innings. The right-hander was 2-4 with a 4.87 ERA in 19 relief appearances. He went 4-3 with a 2.35 ERA in 76 relief appearances last year, giving up just four home runs in 84.1 innings as a rookie.
Coleman was 2-1 with a 1.04 ERA and three saves for the Storm Chasers. He pitched parts of the past two seasons with Kansas City, going 1-4 with a 3.25 ERA and one save in 73 relief appearances.
Coleman pitched the ninth inning against the Angels Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium.
